The COVID-19 global pandemic is changing the way we live and work. The disease is moving rapidly into our communities, and in an effort to protect those most vulnerable, we've been instructed to shut down programs that bring together large groups of people, including schools and universities, for an indefinite period of time.
As a result of COVID-19 restrictions, educators have had to move classes out of the classroom and onto the internet. This is uncharted territory: it's the first time we've needed to switch teaching modes in the middle of an academic year from physical to virtual on such an enormous scale. For anyone who teaches, or really, anyone who works with people, you recognize the significant hurdles this will create for students, parents, and our communities. And this is affecting educators and students across the board, from pre-school and kindergarten all the way up to undergraduate and graduate level studies.
We have many challenges to overcome, and my hope is that this website will serve as a place to share and catalog stories of teaching and learning. I invite educators, students, and parents to share your stories, your successes, and your struggles. And I invite readers to visit regularly to see how teachers, parents, and students are coping with and making good faith efforts to continue teaching and learning during the COVID-19 quarantine.
